Hey, parents and guardians: do you have a child who loves to draw or color?
Anoka-Hennepin’s 13th annual kindness poster contest deadline is approaching, and the district is calling on all student-artists in all grade levels to submit their best artwork for the competition.
What’s kindness? Kindness is a positive call to action to counteract the negative impact of bullying, and Anoka-Hennepin’s core values of respect, responsibility, appreciation of diversity, integrity and compassion are the basis of kindness.
Each building will hold its own mini-poster contest, and winning entries from each school will then move on to the district-wide competition. The deadline for poster submissions varies by building, and students and parents and guardians should check with their schools to see when entries are due.
The district winners will be recognized at the Dec. 12 School Board meeting and will receive a Kindle tablet device from the Horace Mann Company. Winning posters will also be posted on the district website and printed for use in schools throughout the district.
Poster specifics
In addition to needing the words It’s Cool to be Kind on the poster, posters must be on 11” x 17” paper. Lightweight paper, if used, should be mounted on tag board. The student’s name, grade, and school must be on the back of the poster.
Crayons, felt tip pens, markers, paint, pen and ink, pencil, etc., may be used to create the poster, but do not use photographs or Xerox copies. Do not use wood, plastic, glass, metal, string, fabric, felt, collage materials, stencils, internet downloads, or computer art.
Posters cannot include copyrighted characters from comics, cartoons, television programs, movies, newspapers, magazines, etc.
Calling all student-artists: submit artwork for Anoka-Hennepin’s ‘kindness poster’ contest
Hey, kids: are you a student-artist who has mad-skills with a marker, crayon or pen?
Anoka-Hennepin’s 13th annual kindness poster contest deadline is approaching, and the district is calling on all student-artists in all grade levels to submit their best artwork for the competition.
What’s kindness? Kindness is a positive call to action to counteract the negative impact of bullying, and Anoka-Hennepin’s core values of respect, responsibility, appreciation of diversity, integrity and compassion are the basis of kindness.
With that being said, this year’s kindness poster theme is: It’s Cool to be Kind, and those words must be on the poster. Winners of the contest will literally help create and spread kindness in their school.
