Anoka-Hennepin’s communication and public relations team earns national recognition
Anoka-Hennepin’s communication and public relations team earned three national recognitions over the summer.
The National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA), which is a professional organization for public and private school districts and post-secondary institutions from around the country, named Anoka-Hennepin winner of four awards during the group’s annual conference in July.
The district’s communication and public relations department won an Award of Excellence in the 2016 publications and electronic media contest for a district video profiling the Buddy Benches that were installed at the district’s elementary schools. The benches, which offer students a new way to build friendships and deter bullying on the playground, were funded by the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Foundation and installed for the 2015-16 school year.
In addition, the team also earned an Award of Merit for Anoka-Hennepin Community Education’s "Share Your Love for Learning" brochure, which aims to recruit new staff members to serve as adult basic education, aquatics, childcare, early learning and preschool staff members, instructors, coaches and coordinators for classes, activities and volunteer efforts in our schools.
In addition, the communication and public relations team also earned two awards of honorable mention. One was for the district’s Focus community newsletter, and the other for the district-wide e-newsletter redesign.
The Focus newsletter, which has been published and delivered to every home and business in the district since 2002, was recognized for its strong, informative content and design.
The e-newsletter redesign merged the look and feel of e-newsletters at all Anoka-Hennepin’s schools and programs with the district’s branding.
The four award-winning entries were the only ones submitted by Anoka-Hennepin for consideration this year. More than 960 award entries in total were submitted to NSPRA.
Last year, the Anoka-Hennepin communication and public relations team won seven awards, including a NSPRA Golden Achievement Award for its website redesign.
