Anoka-Hennepin students show strong results on state MCA math, reading and science tests
Anoka-Hennepin students, particularly those in elementary and middle school, continue to outpace state scores in math, reading and science on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) test.
In math, elementary students outpaced state scores by 8.3 percent, and middle school students bested state scores by 8.1 percent. In reading, it was a similar story, with elementary students beating state scores by 2.9 percent, and middle schoolers up 5.6 percent over state averages. In science, elementary students beat state scores by 6.6 percent, and middle school students were up 16.6 percent compared to the state. Buoyed by those numbers, the district as a whole outpaced state averages in all three subject areas.
Meanwhile, district leaders are actively studying why high school scores in math, reading and science have fallen below state averages. The strong elementary and middle school scores are a point of pride for Anoka-Hennepin, but district leaders are looking for ways to ensure all students are being prepared for life.
