What is Schoolwide Title I? The Anoka-Hennepin School District strives to educate all students for success. To help academically challenged students, the district receives Title I funding from the federal government. To qualify for Title I Schoolwide Programming, 40 percent or more of a school’s population must come from families defined by the federal government as low-income. In 2011-2012, “Title I Schoowide Programming” was implemented at 10 elementary schools. In the traditional Title I program, students who need additional assistance are identified at the beginning of the school year and receive the additional support throughout the year as long as it is needed. Under the schoolwide program, all students will be eligible for additional assistance. Students will move in and out of learning groups based on their academic need. All Title I programs, including Schoolwide programs, depend on the support of families. Parents and guardians will be asked to sign a written agreement, along with the school, that specifies their collective roles in helping children learn at home, endorsing teachers’ high expectations and helping to make the school a safe and caring place for learning. Participating schools are Adams, Eisenhower, Evergreen Park, Franklin, Hamilton, Hoover, Lincoln, Mississippi, University Avenue, and Wilson. |
