I will post photos of that parade as soon as I receive them.

WIND TUNNEL TESTING VIDEOS ARE NOW AVAILABLE On March 12th, the team performed wind tunnel testing on their 1:12 scale clay model. Based on their results, the team was very happy with the aerodynamics of the car and decided that they would proceed with the design with very few changes.

Oak View SuperMileage Team meetings will be held every Thursday after school starting January 22nd. Mr Keeney has been accepting applications from students interested in being on the new SuperMileage Team at Oak View. There are still a few openings for students who are interested in this advanced engineering activity. 2007 Northdale Middle School SuperMileage Vehicle Team

The 3rd season of SuperMileage at Northdale went great! We had a nice group of students who used the successes from the past two years to modify and refine their car for this year's competition. The group decided to use the main frame structure from last year's car, but to make some component changes. The most dramatic component change was to add an electric start and custom flywheel gear so the car could be started with the flip odf an electronic switch instead of pull starting it. They also did some tests on the wheels and decided to use the "Phil Wood" rear hub instead of the "Stealth" hub because it seemed to roll better. The most expensive and time consuming part of this year's car was the decision to reshape the mold for the outer body to make it more aerodynamic, and then to use most of their donation money to purchase carbon fiber material to form the new body out of. In the end, the team placed 7th in the Modified Class at the competition with a top fuel-economy rating of over 542 miles per gallon. That calculates out to a 14% increase over their best performance from last year!

2006 Northdale Middle School SuperMileage Vehicle Team

This year's team made a completely new car with improvements based off of last year's car design. They competed at Brainerd International Raceway on May 14th - 16th and had fantastic results. The team breezed through the technical inspection on Sunday and the car passed the inspection process on the first try. WOW!!! On Monday and Tuesday, the team sent the car out for performance runs 15 times, and the car made it through the entire 6 mile course each time without ever breaking down or being disqualified. NOW THAT'S IMPRESSIVE. The team's testing at school and consistancy paid off with a best performance run of 475.56 miles per gallon. Excellent results considering that none of the team members will have their drivers licenses for another 2 years! At the end of the competition the team was very proud of their work and accomplishments. They were awarded with one of the two Overall Quality Of Craftsmanship Awards for their car design & fabrication. They also took 4th place in the Modified class (missing the 3rd place trophy by 0.19 miles per gallon). The team will showcase their car this summer at the daily 2:00 parade at the Minnesota State Fair. We also plan to participate in the Anoka Halloween Grand day Parade on October 28th. Team members and parents who wish to participate in the parades should view the parade calandar on the NMS SuperMileage website and then contact Mr Keeney with the dates they plan to attend.

Northdale Middle's 2005 SuperMileage Vehicle Team

Northdale's SuperMileage Vehicle was featured in a story on WCCO's May 17th, 2005 6PM news program.

The Northdale SuperMileage Vehicle team finished two days of competition in Brainerd on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 and earned 2nd Place out of 61 cars entered in the Stock Class. Northdale had a top fuel performance of 479 miles per gallon and missed taking first place by only 11 miles/gallon. Their performance was especially impressive since Northdale was the only team made up of only middle-school aged team members. All of the other 98 cars were made by either a combined middle school/high school team or totally high school aged students. Congratulations to the team members who did a fantastic job on Northdale's first ever SuperMileage Vehicle Team!
