Volunteering is a great way to stay involved with your child’s class. It also gives you the opportunity to see first hand what is happening at our school. And research shows that when parents are involved at school, children do better in their studies and have a more positive attitude toward school. Volunteers are an important part of our success and we understand how valuable your time is, so any amount of help you can give will be greatly appreciated! To get involved: 1. Each school year, you will need to fill out a new Volunteer Application and Criminal History Release form. For the 2013-2014 school year, volunteers will be asked to complete their Criminal Record History Release form on-line . You will find the link on this page to the left. The link will take you to Trusted Employees secure website. If you have an email address Complete and return your Volunteer Application form to me. Make sure you have included your email address (please write legibly). Go to the link above to complete your on-line Criminal Background Check. If you do not have an email address Complete and return your Volunteer Application form to me. Make sure you have included your email address (please write legibly). Ask me for a paper copy of the Criminal Record History Release form and return to Parent Involvement, using the pre-addressed and stamped envelope, which will be provided. If you have any questions regarding the new process, please contact: Sue Archbold, Supervisor, Volunteer Services, 763-506-1585 or sue.archbold@anoka.k12.mn.us Or Linda Rodgers, Coordinator, Parent Involvement, 763-506-1282 or linda.rodgers@anoka.k12.mn.us o The Volunteer Application will be distributed to all families in the fall and are available at the Fall Open House. You can get additional copies in the Main office or by contacting me. o Whether you would like to help in the classroom, on field trips, in the workroom, at after hours events, or with anything else that involves assisting staff at University, you will need to fill out both these forms. This is our way of assuring both the safety of you and our students. o The processing time for approval, and notification that you can volunteer, is 1-3 weeks. Please plan accordingly so that you can volunteer for events. 2. After I have received these forms you will receive acknowledgment by email (or letter if you do not have access to email.) I will email or call when opportunities arise, but you can contact me at any time. 3. Please remember to sign in my office (not the main office) when you come to volunteer and get a Volunteer Nametag. Please click the link on the left “Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions” to get a general list of different ways you can help at University. Please contact me using the “Have any Questions” link on the left. There is a place for everyone at University Avenue ACES and I look forward to working with each of you. |
