Please help your child check their RED folder daily!
A reminder about homework:

Sight words should be studied until the child is proficient. Sign the bottom and send it back with your student. After 100 words are learned I will re-check for retention of these words.

Please dress for the weather, it is getting chilly and jackets are needed for recess.

Please check your child's folder for your scheduled conference time. If there is a time conflict please notify the office of this conflict, they will reschedule for you.

Thank you and have a great first week of fall!

9-7-12

Week 1 is done and now the fun has just begun!

We are working hard on routines and responsibilities. Those responsibilities include emptying our folders daily with important notes, working in a respectful way so others can also learn and routines, routines, routines!

Homework that has or will be coming home this week or in the upcoming weeks:

  • Sight words (yellow paper came home monday)- students bring back as they are ready to say them for me
  • Spelling words (white paper- to come home this wednesday) students will need to practice at home as well as practice at school.
  • Math homework (blue paper to go home next week)
  • Monthly reading log (goldenrod paper came home last week turn in at months end)

Here are some peeks at what we have been working on in class:

* A book about bucket fillers and bucket dippers on day 2* What can we do to fill other people's buckets?

1C agrees to...

Steps we use to pick a good fit book- have your child practice these steps at home as well.

Happy firstday of school everyone! We had a great day in our class.

Ask your child about the positives they had about the day! We shared as a class at the end how our day went and what questions we still have about 1st grade.

Today we met our classmates, organized materials, practiced routines and learned about our schedule and procedures for daily activities.

We began with a math message on rote couting by ones and filled in missing numbers. We practiced writing numbers on white boards and how to show different numbers.

1st graders practiced writing their names many times again today and practiced handwriting the letter C.

We read 2 stories today about the first day of school "First Day Jitters" and "Chrysanthemum" we talked about how it feels when people make fun of us or say things that hurt our feelings. We also talked about what to do when we feel anxious or nervous about things from the first day jitters.

We had media and PE today. Your child checked out 1 book from the library. Please return this book by next Tuesday.

Your child will get their wednesday folders tomorrow filled with notes from school and homework assignments for the month.

Please call or email if you have questions
