Magnet Schools of America has established the Magnet
Schools of Merit Award to recognize the top magnet schools in the United
States. The Magnet Schools of Merit Award recognizes magnet schools that show a
commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful
desegregation/diversity efforts, specialized teaching staffs, and parent and
community involvement. Two categories of awards have been established by MSA:
The top category given to a group of select magnet schools is the
Magnet
School of Excellence Award
and the second category of awards is the
Magnet
School of Distinction Award
. Schools recognized must be members of
Magnet Schools of America and must submit an application that is scored by a
panel of educators. Cash awards are provided to the top Magnet
Schools of Excellence.

Important Reminder - Please read
Please remember that is is very important to keep your children home from school
if they have flu-like symptoms, even if it means missing an important test or
other activity. Most important tests can be made up. Your child's health is more
important than a test. Also, sick children can spread illness to other students
and staff.
All healthy persons aged 6 months through 64 years are
welcome, including pregnant women, anyone of any age with health problems, and
caregivers and household residents of infants less than 6 months old.
Anoka County is not taking appointments for the clinic.
Vaccinations will be on a first-come, first-served basis as supplies are
available. There is no charge for the vaccination, but those with insurance
should bring their cards so their insurance can be billed.
The complete letter from Anoka County about the clinic is on
the district Web site at www.anoka.k12.mn.us/flu
ALERT:
Fraudulent vaccination e-mails circulating
The Anoka-Hennepin School District has received information
from the Anoka County Health Department about fraudulent e-mails (phishing)
referencing a state vaccination program sponsored by the Centers for Disease
Control (CDC).
The messages states that anyone over the age of 18 must
create a personal H1N1 flu vaccination profile on the Web site www.cdc.gov. The
CDC has NOT implemented such a program.
Users who click on the e-mail are at risk of having
malicious code installed on their computer. The CDC Office of the Chief
Information Security Office (OCISO) recommends users take the following steps
to reduce the risk of being a victim of a phishing attack: Do not follow
unsolicited links and do not open or respond to unsolicited e-mail messages;
use caution when visiting unknown Web sites; and use caution when entering
personal information online.
