PARENTAL CONTACT DURING THE SCHOOL DAY Visiting School Parents are encouraged to visit school. To avoid times when testing, field trips, etc. are scheduled, it is suggested that parents contact the teacher to make arrangements for a visit. When you enter the building for any purpose - visiting a classroom, volunteering, etc. please check in at the Office and sign the visitor clipboard. A visitor/volunteer badge will be give to you to wear during your stay. Please sign out and return the badge when your visit is completed. Contacting a Student Should it become necessary for a parent to contact a child during school hours, this must be done through the school office instead of interrupting the classroom. Please do not go directly to the classroom with messages lunches, money, etc. These may be left in the office for the student. The Anoka-Hennepin ISD #11 recognizes the rights of both biological parents of a student to have equal access to communication with their child during the school day. At the same time, the District realizes the importance of providing a leaning environment for all students that is free of distractions and disruptions. Whenever possible, parents/guardians should arrange to meet with and/or talk with their children outside the school day. The School District recognizes that disputes often arise between divorced or estranged parents; however, it is not the arbitrator of these disputes and will not assume that role. Accordingly the Anoka-Hennepin ISD #11 will not enforce custody or parental visitations orders that are not specifically direct at it. Release of Students Definite procedures are followed to assure the safety of children who are released during the day: q Written parental permission should be sent to the teacher stating the requested time for release. q The parent should come to the office and sign out the child. All children must be signed out in the office. Children will remain with the teacher until notified by the school secretary. q In no case should a student ever leave during the school day without signing out in the office. Please note the following- If any person other than the custodial parent or guardian is to pick up the child, the school must have a statement from the custodial parent specifying the necessary information.
