CALL TO ORDER and WELCOME: Ben B. called the meeting to order at 7:00PM, Ben took the minutes and offered to run them by Cathy McAuliffe before posting

$7500 paid for Activity/Field trips fund to help defray student field trips, new snow cone machine purchased for $627, $9500 paid out for new whiteboards. Projected $14,000 profit from fall fundraiser on $28,000 sales. This is ahead of $12,000 profit last year. MSC

Thanks for the new whiteboards. The media center projector is moved, and the 6 classrooms have ceiling plates. Projector installation will be next week and the boards should be installed by the end of October.

Superintendent Roger Giroux is retiring. An informational meeting will be held October 6 from 7:00-8:30 for a new supervisor at Coon Rapids High School. (Another will be held October 7 at Champlin Park).

The estate of Dr. Don Rautio donated $3500 to the school. The plan is to use it for an "outdoor classroom" amphitheater.

Office Max awarded teacher Deb Kolb $1200 in materials for the classroom as part of their "A day made better" program.

Mr. Reed runs the morning announcement television broadcast from the Adams Studio in the media center.

There are bird feeders in the courtyard, donated by Mr. Tammi's family

Conferences next week. A voice "phone drop" automated call will go out to all parents on October 6.

Monday October 6 Det. Pat Carlson is presenting a video called "Critical 20 minutes" on lockdown procedures. State law requires 5 lockdown drills and 5 fire drills per school year.

Friday October 10, CRFD presents Fire Safety awareness week

City of Coon Rapids 50th anniversary is approaching. A 6:30 meeting on 10/16 at the C.R. City hall will be held to discuss celebration. The schools may be asked to hold open houses.

The school mascot is now the "Redhawks" after a vote by students after narrowing down student suggestions. At the fundraiser distribution we hope to have some spirit wear with a new logo.

There have been a lot of questions from staff and parents about the Halloween parade. There will not be a parade, as there have been issues with students and parents with costumes. Teachers have the ability to have classroom parties at their discretion on Friday October 31. L.O. Jacob has a voluntary Halloween parade after school.

Turkey Olympics: Gym teacher Mary Biden has volunteered to help. We need volunteers to run stations. There are some opportunities for some Dads to come out and volunteer to referee the games of skill.

Conferences potluck volunteers needed to provide food, salad and desserts

Volunteer forms are required (the purple one) to volunteer at the school. They must be turned in on time to run background checks before volunteering in the classroom or on field trips. PAC members need to file forms too.

There is an opportunity for science fair judging

Students have been identified for KIP - Kindergarten Intervention program

Boxtop volunteer went through the piles of boxtops. Two redemptions netted $776.40 and $393.70!

COMMITTEE REPORTS
PROGRAMS: Kimberly W. Invitation to Mrs. Gutzman in November to speak about the music program and instruments, Mrs. Gillson requested to speak about math program
PUBLIC RELATIONS:
NEEDS & RESOURCES: Kimberly W. Email has gone out to teachers. Final day for requests is Wednesday October 22. We need committee volunteers to go over the list. Committee tentatively to meet sometime before next PAC meeting.
FINANCE REPORT: Covered in Treasurers' report
FALL FUNDRAISER: Amy S. Fundraiser was a success, projected $14,000 net from proceeds. Order forms mailed. New food items were a success, accounting for $7000 in orders. Because whole cases must be ordered, there will be some extra food items that will be used as prizes or sold. Our top seller, with $800, is in 2nd grade! Distribution November 5 (which will also include Spirit Wear distribution).

Suggestion from Adrienne to move November meeting to 6:30 start and to get an earlier end time. MSC

Suggestion to move April 2 PAC meeting that directly conflicts with Arts and Academics awards starting at 7:00pm. Judging is March 31. Possible options are moving before or after, or cancelling altogether. Next scheduled meeting would be May 9. There is no school on April 9. Item tabled for next meeting.

At the Earning for Learning at Northtown Mall, Adams is still in the lead. So make those big purchases at Best Buy and Home Depot in October!
