School Board shortens school year by one day for K-8 students
Wednesday, December 30th, 2009

The School Board approved a change in the current year's calendar Dec. 14 that shortens the school year by one day for elementary and middle school students. Ending the school year on June 9 instead of June 10 will give teachers the additional time many will need to close the year out and prepare for transition to new schools for next year.

As the result of an earlier School Board decision to close eight schools at the end of the year, large numbers of staff moves will occur before the next year. Teachers not affected by moves will assist their colleagues in packing and other preparations for the moves.
