US Government Unit

One of my favorite projects that I created was a web quest for my 5th grade classes. This project required the students to use internet resources along with their classroom lessons to formulate an opinion on the basic principals of our government. Should we have a strong central governmet or should the states have more control? This debate is still going on today even after 230 years of debate. Click here for more information.

THIS AMERICAN COLONY

One of the tasks I asked my 5th graders to take on was to research and compare the 13 English Colonies. They were given the task of creaing a commercial or brouchere for one of the orginal 13 colonies. During this period of History it was common for each colony to try and persaude people in Europe to come live in America. So my studnets needed to find the information, and persaude their classmates to come to the colony they had chosen. Click here for more information.

Social Studies Quizes!

A great way to learn is also by using Discovery Education. It's a great resource that our district provides for our students. This was a page that I created in order for kids to see some vidoes on our social studies topics and then take a quiz about from the video. The quiz gets emailed to me, so I will be able to score their work quickly! Click here for more information.

How do we Rap like that?

I have taught almost as many summer school courses as I have years during the regular school year. I was fortunate enough to work at Lincoln Elementary School for the Arts, where I incorporated music, art, theater, technology, and writing into my lessons. This was an example of that from my 2nd grade summer school class. Click here to listen to their rap songs.
