ATTENTION ALL STEP STUDENTS:
Welcome to the third trimester of the 2011-2012 school year! My name is Shannon Gerrety and I am the Administrative Intern at Blaine High School who oversees our STEP program. Below you will find important information regarding transportation and scheduling.
Part-Time Student Schedule:
Morning STEP Afternoon STEP 12:05 p.m. Arrival by Bus 12:10 p.m. Class Begins 1:52 p.m. Dismissal to Bus
Fulltime Students Schedule:
Schedule A: Career Class a.m. 7:55 a.m. Arrival at STEP 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Career Class 9:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Plus Class 10:50 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. Lunch 11:35 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Academic Class 1 9:10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Academic Class 2 10: 20 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. Academic Class 3 11:25 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. Lunch 12:10 p.m. to 1:52 p.m. Career Class Transportation: You may arrange your own transportation to and from STEP, or you may choose to ride the school bus provided by the district. If you are a part-time STEP student, and choose to drive yourself, you will be required to purchase a Blaine High School parking permit if you plan to park in our student lots (even if it’s only for half of the day). Permits will be on sale the first week of the trimester; $34 for trimester 3.
If you are a morning STEP student or a fulltime STEP student: The morning STEP bus will be located in the front of the school, at the very far end near the front portables. Look for a sign in the bus window that says STEP, or ask the bus driver to verify. The morning STEP bus leaves Blaine High School at 7:30 a.m. You must board the bus before this time because it cannot wait for late students.
If you are an afternoon STEP student: The afternoon STEP bus leaves Blaine High School at 11:40 a.m. on non-PAWS days. On Wednesdays, when we have PAWS, the afternoon STEP bus leaves at 12:00 p.m. The bus picks up afternoon STEP students outside the front of the building’s main doors (near the flag pole). Again, you must be out there on time! Afternoon STEP students will eat first lunch, so you must be careful to watch the time.
Transportation is also provided from STEP back to Blaine High School for all STEP students. Schedules: All afternoon STEP students will receive their class schedules from their first hour teacher at Blaine. All morning STEP students will need to pick up their schedule at the front desk in the Counseling Office before boarding the bus or when you return to Blaine.
School Assemblies: Unfortunately we cannot change the am STEP bus schedule or STEP class times for any school assemblies we have at Blaine High School. The morning STEP bus will leave at the regular time, 7:30 a.m. Examples of school assemblies are the Snodaze coronation and pep fest. If you are a morning or fulltime STEP student and wish to attend these school assemblies, you must provide your own transportation. Any STEP students who wish to attend Blaine High School assemblies may do so; however, they must stop in the main office for a “Special Event Pass” to excuse them for arriving late to STEP. Afternoon STEP bus on long pep fest days will leave at 12:00 Noon. On short pep fest days the bus will leave at its regular scheduled time of 11:40 a.m.
Lastly, all part-time STEP students should stop in the main office and see their respective attendance secretary for a “STEP Pass”. This is a pass that you may be asked by a staff member or Avalon Security guard to present. Our Avalon Security guards need to know that you have a legitimate reason to leave campus or enter our building.
I wish you all a great third trimester. Please remember that our attendance policy does apply to our STEP students, and you are expected to attend all classes. If you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the STEP program, please do not hesitate to ask me. You may stop in my office, email me at Shannon Gerrety@anoka.k12.mn.us, or call me at 763.506.6623.
Sincerely, Shannon Gerrety Administrative Intern Blaine High School |
