Component 3, Task 2 Give two examples of undergraduate or graduate degree programs in science or engineering that directly relate to your team's NCT technical application. For each program, be sure to include the following.
Mechanical and Aerospace engineering is a graduate degree program department for the University of Virginia. The URL address of the institution is http://www.seas.virginia.edu/acad/programs/. The faculty of the department strives to offer graduate courses that will challenge the students’ capabilities, inform them of cutting-edge innovations, and develop in them an appreciation of the deep beauty and history of our discipline. |
Component 3, Task 3 Develop an idea for a new science and/or engineering degree program that might emerge given the advancements in scientific knowledge that the team has identified. Provide a title and 100-word description of this new degree program. Computational Structural Mechanics Innovations in the Real World Structures are everywhere. From sky-high buildings to the tiny memory chips, structures are becoming more complex because of the constant advancements of modern technology and scientific knowledge. In this degree program, students will develop skills that will allow them, in the future, use and understand computers more efficiently, and to be the best future engineers. They will learn about and develop computational structural mechanics technologies, and understand the importance about the concept, especially its role in seeking methods for finding solutions beyond human perception for complex design problems. Students will also acknowledge the technologies developed from computational structural mechanics, and apprehend skills that surround computational structural mechanics. Other classes that are related to computational structural mechanics that students would take are computer explorations, industrial technology, and multi-disciplinary structural optimizations. This degree program is a good choice for anyone interested about the world of computers and engineering. |
