ENROLLMENT IN ANOKA-HENNEPIN - STEP ONE

Two easy steps to enroll your child in a school!

Step One - Choose a school
A-H students are automatically assigned to the school that serves their address. However, the school district also offers families a number of choices for their children at all grade levels, including specialty schools, in-district transfer and open enrollment.

You can read more about your available choices here in our FAQ "everything enrollment" item (which is packed with a ton of info).

If you don't know which school is assigned to your address, call our Information Systems Department at 763-506-1030 or click here to use our online school finder via A-HConnect. Families wishing to visit a school should call the school and make arrangements with the principal.

Step Two - Complete an application

Kindergarten

If your child is in our database, you will receive a letter in December informing you of:

  • the school your child is assigned to based on your home address
  • various kindergarten options available to your child, including Kindergarten Extra (fee-based all-day-every-day kindergarten program) and specialty school choice

You will also receive a letter in late winter/early spring from your school informing you of Kindergarten Registration Day at the school serving your address. You will register your child in conjunction with this event.

If your child is not in our database:

  • Prior to Feb. 15, please call 763-506-1030 to provide information for our records
  • Between Feb. 15 and June 15, please call the school serving your address to provide information for our records
  • Between June 16 and July 30, please call 763-506-1030
  • Between Aug. 1 and the start of school, please call the school serving your address. Click here to download school addresses and phone numbers in PDF format.
  • If you do not live within Anoka-Hennepin but would like your child to attend an Anoka-Hennepin school, click here to apply through Minnesota's Open Enrollment program

Depending on the time of year, you will either be given information about completing registration or be placed on the list to receive a letter about Kindergarten Registration Day.

If you wish to apply for a NWSISD specialty school or Kindergarten Plus instead of having your child attend the school serving your neighborhood, click here for the NWSISD application. Call Adventures Plus at 763-506-1400 for a registration form.
