Anoka-Hennepin’s first priority is student safety
We want to reassure you that student safety remains Anoka-Hennepin School District’s first priority. School administrators have put a lot of work into safety planning and have provided staff with crisis training. Anoka-Hennepin has a district crisis team based on a federal model and each school building has a crisis team with specific roles for key staff.
Each school crisis team meets regularly to evaluate their crisis plan and each school conducts several lockdown drills throughout the year to ensure all school staff know what to do. After each drill, they meet to discuss how the drill went and to make improvements if needed.
We work closely with local law enforcement on a regular basis so they are prepared if called to respond to a crisis.
After each tragedy such as this, federal law enforcement makes recommendations for improving safety practices. Our lockdown drills and much of our crisis planning is the result of those recommendations. Any new recommendations that may come from this recent tragedy will also be added to our plans if necessary.
We want to reassure you that our schools remain safe and we will do our utmost to protect the children entrusted to us.
If you have questions or concerns, please call Principal Nancy Chave at 763-506-7401. |

You may have heard from your child that rumors threatening student safety have been spreading at some schools in our district, particularly through Twitter and other social media. Schools are working with law enforcement at this time. I want to stress that there are no such rumors at our school at this time.
We have learned that similar rumors are circulating in a number of schools across the country. These are really challenging times for our public schools. We will never, under any circumstances, jeopardize our students’ safety.
Please remind your child that it is dangerous to spread threatening rumors and there are disciplinary consequences for those who do. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any concerns, please call Assistant Principal Heather Forse at 763-506-7421 or Assistant Principal Anthony Degel at 763-506-7420. |

Parents,
Our cutoff date for submitting names for graduation is May 24th. Students will need to be at or under needing 120 units to walk in order to be a part of the festivities. There are 81 days from May 24th to January 22 (which is the start of term 7). To calculate where this number comes from take 81 days x 5.5 units available/day= 445.5 units + 120 units(the required number to be at or to be less than)= 565.5 units, so students need to be needing 565.5 or less by 8:00 AM on January 22nd. If they are not at this 565.5 units, they need to enroll into night school or an after-school program to get caught up. Students can speak with their advisers to figure this information out.
Below is a countdown of units for students to walk:
• January 22nd= 565.5 units (81 days) start of term 7
• February 11th= 488.5 units (67 days) start of term 8
• March 18th= 389.5 units (49 days) start of term 9
• April 8th= 312.5 units (35 days) start of term 10
• April 29th= 230 units (20 days) start of term 11
• May 20th= 147.5 units (5 days) start of term 12
• May 24th= 120 units (0 days)
