The product for our project would be garbage bags, companies like Hefty and Glad produce these products. Both of these companies went from Hefty or Glad “Garbage Bags” to Hefty or Glad “ Ultra flex Garbage Bags” because both Hefty and Glad know that their customers like to have a garbage bag that doesn’t fall when we put or junk in there, but lets think of a new type of garbage bag, and use recyclable material which wouldnt use oils to make like plastic bags and would be much cheaper to make.

The Pulp and Paper Manufacturers Association (PPMA)

Purpose:  

(PPMA) is comprised of union and non-union manufacturing companies involved in producing and converting products allied with the paper industry or supplying parts or equipment to the pulp, paper and converting industries.

Mission:

The Pulp and Paper Manufacturers Association (PPMA) is comprised of union and non-union manufacturing companies involved in:  

1)  Producing pulp. Producing paper products.  
2)  Converting paper products.  
3)  Producing and converting products allied with the paper industry or supplying parts or equipment to the pulp, paper and converting industries.

TASK 3:Propose and describe a new product or new process based on your team's NCT technical application.

The proposed product will be called the Earth Bag, with a blue and green planet emblem for marketing purposes, with the design intent of meeting the detailed specifications.

1)  Will incorporate strings for cinching and closing the bag.  Alternative methods of closing the bag can be analyzed.
2)  The  molded pulp bag will be cost effective compared to the competion  (detailed pricing anaylsis will be complete.
3)  The bag will balanced for thickness and pliability to be used for lawn and leaf bag application (detailed penetration to be detailed based on pulp thickness vs Poly bags mil thickness)
4) For a material our objective is to use a molded pulp design instead of plastic because it’s cheap and recyclable.  
5) Bonding applications will designed to keep the strength and pliability comparable to the heat sealing on a plastic bag.
6) Standard sizes include sizes include 4 gal., 13 gal., 30 gal., and 39 gal.  A 13 gallong and a 39 gallon product will be design, to cover the lion share of the market.  13 gallon bags are tradionally used kitchen refuse, and 39 gallon is used for lawn and leaf bags.  Any larger in size would be harder to lift and would potentially cause injury to users.
7)  Number of bags per package will be competitive with the competion.
8)  A cost effective coating will be used with the paper so the bag will not disintegrate from moisture.

TASK 4:Via the Internet, locate a company that might be able to manufacture your team’s proposed product. Send the company an e-mail asking that someone in the company evaluate the product your team proposed. Provide on your website the e-mail request you sent, the names of manufacturers to whom you sent the request and include any responses received.
