Task 2

VisLab

VisLab is a company whose mission is to provide supervisory and fully autonomous systems to help vehicles reach ahigher degree of safety.  VisLab’s interest started with roads, off-road, and all-terrain vehicles, but has recently extended to cover maritime and aerial applications as well.  VisLab’s ultimate goal is to provide vehicles with a sufficiently complete and sharp perception to allow them to move autonomously in any environment.

They have a smaller regular staff of about 31 people and are expanding with their construction divisions.

Requirements for Task 3:

Task 3

We invented a device that would revolutionize the car, and traffic industries.  It is a device that autonomously controls the vehicle in a way that leaves manual for emergencies while providing a safer route of travel by making all cars move together to cause the flow of traffic to be less congested.

Requirements for Task 4:

Via the Internet, locate a company that might beable to manufacture your team’s proposed product. Send the company an e-mailasking that someone in the company evaluate the product your team proposed.Provide on your website the e-mail request you sent, the names of manufacturersto whom you sent the request and include any responses received.

Task 4

We emailed the Car manufacturer Chevrolet with this email

"Hello, my name is Nick G.,

I am a 9th grade student participating in the Internet Science and Technology Fair at my High School. This is a group project in which we research a topic and think up a new productto  deal with a problem. I am e-mailing you today to ask if you would be able to hypothetically produce our product that we are creating. The basis behind theitem is a car that will be able to navigate itself on the roadways, using a GPS system, and the systems that are already implemented in the car. The system would utilize the power steering system in the car for turning, and a setup that would move the brake and accelerator. It would have a mechanical hookup so that in the event of a system failure manual control can be resumed. Any feedback or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

- Nick G."
