Task 1

Provide a forecast of what the workforce demand would be over a five-year period to produce and market your team’s technical application or process. Include the impact such production would have on the marketplace.

Like any other company we would start off small with a loan to get us started. It would take a couple of months to get started building a prototype with only a few people. If successful we could start manufacturing by hiring a few employees to build the sensors and the treads and body of our product. If we become successful we will expand over the years by getting bigger manufacturing buildings and more employees. It would probably take a couple hundred of employees to quickly create the sensors and the treads and to get each one assembled. It would probably become a multi-million dollar business if the product is popular. The amount of sales may not be as good as first expected due to the expensive sensors. So it may be more of a product for cities to test their lakes instead of a personal product.

Task 2

Give two examples of undergraduate or graduate degree programs in science or engineering that directly relate to your team's NCT technical application. For each program, be sure to include the following:
• the URL address of the institution,
• the department (for example, chemical engineering, electronic engineering) where the program is offered, and
• a brief description of the program of study.

Dunwoody

Robotics and Manufacturing

Robots are cool – and lucrative.  As the workforce continues to age, more and more workers will be needed in all aspects of manufacturing technology and that includes operating and maintaining industrial robots.  It also includes everything from machining and milling (Machine Tool Technology) to designing and operating the electronic systems that control the manufacturing process.  Dunwoody’s Robotics and Manufacturing programs train professionals in all aspects of manufacturing and packaging, and the job market in these industries remains hot.

Dunwoody’s Robotic and Manufacturing programs include:
Automated Systems and Robotics
Electronics Technology
Engineering Drafting and Design Technology
Machine Tool Technology
Welding

WPI

Robotics Engineering

A robotics revolution is underway, and a new breed of engineers will be needed to face the challenges that this exciting field represents. WPI, the leader in project-based education, continues its pioneering tradition by developing the nation's first bachelor's degree program in robotics engineering.  In 2009, WPI also announced the introduction of the Robotics Engineering master's program.

Task 3

Develop an idea for a new science and/or engineering degree program that might emerge given the advancements in scientific knowledge that the team has identified. Provide a title and 100-word description of this new degree program.

New Science/Engineering

My new science degree program is called Hands on Robotics. This new degree specializes in the assembly and disassembly of robots. It helps with the all around skills meant to use the hands and mind. It will challenge you mentally but also help with actually knowing how to assemble the robot or robots you are an expert on. This degree will help you in the real world by knowing the hands on skills needed to not only build robots but other mechanical devices in the world. So in conclusion this new degree will help you with many mechanical and mental assemblies of robots in the world.
