Help with what? It could be literally almost anything. Typically, calls involve family and relationship matters, depression, coping with abuse of many kinds or seeking out community resources.  They counsel people at serious risk of suicide
every day.

It is probably no surprise to you that the communities in our school district have been especially hard hit by unemployment, home foreclosure and other financial difficulties in recent months. These have contributed to a great deal of anxiety and stress in families. These concerns, plus the normal stresses teenagers face, have resulted in higher than normal rates of depression and suicidal thoughts in our teens.

Our school district has received a state grant to bring the national Suicide Awareness Voices of Education organization- known as SAVE - to work with key staff in our school. They will receive training in warning signs of depression and suicide, how to intervene, and how to respond to grief and suicide.

Information for parents and students on depression and suicide is available by
clicking here or on the yellow ribbon image . If you have questions or concerns about your child please contact our school (763-506-5400).

We know summer is a great, relaxing time for our school. We want you to be aware of a special initiative for our students if their summer is not so relaxing. Anoka-Hennepin Cares Summer Support is a phone number students can call to get help with anything they might be dealing with and they don't know where to turn. It's staffed by someone who knows our schools and knows our community and who can help. We're sending home a business card with more information or click here to see more information on our website. The Anoka-Hennepin Summer Support number is 763-433-4695.
