Task 1

Identify two companies and one product produced by each company that directly relate to the NCT technical application your team has selected.

The company, iRobot, has the product "PackBot".  Another company called DENSO Robotics has a product called " 4-Axis SCARA Robots".

Task 2

Identify one professional association or trade organization associated with the products your team identified. Include:  

• its name,
• description of its mission, and
• number of people/companies involved.

Objectives are to promote, encourage, and forecast effects of robots that will be placed in the future. The profession's name is ARAA (Australian Robotics and Automation Association).  The number of companies involved is 16.

Task 3

Propose and describe a new product or new process based on your team's NCT technical application.  

The name of our new product is T Bot. The T Bot is an autonomous robot guard for controlling and preventing violence in prisons. Equipped with a Taser gun the T Bot would be attached to the ceiling over a prison's busiest areas. The T Bot would have a video camera that would search for violence and potential violent situations. If it finds one it would aim and shoot a Taser probe out to the source(s) of violence or potential violence as an attempt to stop it before much harm is done.

Task 4

Via the Internet, locate a company that might be able to manufacture your team's proposed product. Send the company an e-mail asking that someone in the company evaluate the product your team proposed. Provide on your website the e-mail request you sent, the names of manufacturers to whom you sent the request and include any responses received.
