Component Two:Task One Identify two cpmpanies and one product produced by each company that directly relate to the topic your team has selected. There are a couple of companies that produce virtual reality software that is modified. Two specific companies are Parallel Graphics and Evans & Sutherland Computer Corp oration. Parallel Graphics specializes in 3D visual communication and publishing software. One program that has been pretty popular is Cortona3D Rapid Product Range and Viewer. Evans & Sutherland Computer Corporation specializes in programs that help develop and manufacture leading-edge hardware and software for visual systems for simulation, training, and virtual reality applications. One product that they have developed is the Scidome. This is a single projector fulldome video system for small to medium-sized planetariums.

Component Two: Task Two Identify one professional association or organization associated with the products you team has selected. Include the name, descripition of its mission, and the number of people/companies involved. VP Lap is a professional association. It is an association that helps develops computer machinery. Some organizations that it is associated with are the IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, IEE (UK), Association for Computing machinery, ACM SIFFRAPH, ACMSIGCHI, American Geophysical Union, and Sigma XI. There are 53 members in the VP Lab. Some of them also belong to the different organizations that the VP Lab is associated with. |
Component two: Task three
Propose and describe a new product or new process based on your team's topic. The purpose of this project is to help kids catch up on schoolwork when they miss school. If you are sick, just call in sick; tell them you need a Virtual reality kit. The will then send it to your house by the nurse. The new product will be goggles and watch what happens in every class. When wearing the goggles you see a white board and what you talked about in class. When missing English, it will show you a book full of the stuff you learned and the assignments you missed. |
Component Two: Task Four Locate a company that might be able to manufacture your team's proposed product. Send the company an email asking that someone in the company evaluate the product your team proposed . If your team is not able to obtain a response to your inquiry, provide on your website an example of the email request you sent and makes the manufactures to whom you sent the request.
The companies I emailed were Microsoft, Sony, and Bungie.
These companies make items that are computer and virtual reality related. By virtual reality I mean interactive software.
Below is an email I sent to Microsoft.
Dear Microsoft I am a 15 year old student at Blaine High school and in our computer application class we were told to design something to advance a category of computer and engineering. My group and I are designing a pair of glasses that can show everything you missed at school when sick and interact with it. We were told to send an E-mail to a company that could possibly create the device. In concluding we would enjoy a reply and your actual thoughts, so you don't need to hold back just because it is for a school project.
