Superintendent Dennis Carlson, who has served in this position since January 2009, has announced his intention to retire June 30, 2014. The School Board is currently conducting a search for a new superintendent.
The superintendent's position was advertised nationally and candidates were recruited through Jan. 30.
Preliminary interviews with six candidates were conducted Feb. 11 and 12.
Three finalists (
David Law, assistant superintendent in White Bear Lake Area Schools; Michelle Langenfeld, superintendent in Green Bay, Wisc.; and Jeff McGonigal, associate superintendent for high schools in Anoka-Hennepin) were selected for further consideration in a series of interviews Feb. 18 through Feb. 20.
Each finalist spent a day in the district touring schools and participating in question and answer sessions with employee groups and the community.
After the final interview on Feb. 20,
the School Board selected David Law
as the next superintendent for Anoka-Hennepin School District.
