Task One

Identify two companies and one product produced by each company that directly relate to the NCT technical application your team has selected.


IO2 Technology - Heliodisplay M30i

Heliodisplay images are unique and offer many advantages over existing displays due to their non-physical floating characteristics and are visible under normal lighting such in an office or corporate center. Images or video play directly from a computer or DVD player, using a standard video or computer cable. The M30i includes the capabilities of interactive touchscreen control. The Heliodisplay is designed with flexibility in mind so it can be hidden (into a pedestal, table etc), so that only its projected image is visible. The projection system connects to a standard video source, such as DVD player or PC, and projects any images that would be viewable on a computer screen or television. No specialized hardware or software is needed to view images.
 
Physical Optics Corporation (POC) - True 3-D Video Display Syste m
 
True real-time 3-D simulations /images can now be seen with the naked eye. POC's unique autostereoscopic video digital display, display system requires no goggles or special glasses to view 3-D images. Proprietary HDS Holographic Digital Display Screen combines 2-D projected images into 3-D viewing zones by combining left (L) and right(R) stereo images. POC's 3-D systems will accept 3-D recorded images, video, games or graphics and will display them for 3-D viewing. The special POC software interface is compatible with standard 3-D graphic and design software, and enables the storage and retrieval of 3-D images.

Task Two
Identify one professional association or trade organization associated with the products your team identified. Include: its name, description of its mission, and number of people/companies involved.
 
Dimension 3D Expo
 
The purpose of the Dimension 3D Expo is to offer professionals with the most recent information about 3D production, opportunities for theater owners and projects by manufacturers, particularly in the field of customer electronics. There are several groups involved with the Dimension 3D Expo. The main company involved is Soft audiovisuel. This company is an expert in and counseling for audiovisual services and equipment. Other groups include: UP3D, KTH NEWSIGHT, SONY, LG, CLCORPORATION, Doremi Cinema, and 3DLized.

Task Three

Propose and describe a new product or new process based on your team's NCT technical application.

A new product that could be created is a holographic processor put into a cell-phone. If you can not make it to a meeting you can just flip out your phone and it reads your face and sends data in real-time to a holographic display at the meeting. The phone can also have a holographic display as in Star Wars so you can view the meeting. High-definition headphones would be a must so you can listen to Mr. Jones' report on what he wants accomplished this quarter in finances. Another new idea for an invention containing this device could be a holographic projector that can download the images of people and be sent some where else. Some examples could be a presidential speech. Instead of the president going out into to public, they could give the speech in a safe environment protected by their secret service. This would allow a safer perspective of things and there would be a greater chance of stopping assassinations and so forth.


Task Four
Via the Internet, locate a company that might be able to manufacture your team's proposed product. Send the company an e-mail asking that someone in the company evaluate the product your team proposed. If your team is not able to obtain a response to your inquiry, provide on your website an example of the e-mail request you sent and the names of manufacturers to whom you sent the request.

We are a group of students from Blaine High School participating in a national competition called the Internet Science and Technology Fair. We have designed a holographic imaging projector. The features of our product include a high-resolution output, user friendly interface, customizable shell colors, and optional interactive screen and camera.
