Procedures for Addressing Homeless Families in Anoka-Hennepin
McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements of 2001 Act

"Homelessness alone is not sufficient reason to separate students from the mainstream school environment."
  • To assist families in time of crisis, Anoka-Hennepin will provide temporary transportation options to ensure that the students continue to have access to educational programs.
  • The term "homeless children and youths"- means individuals who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.
  • Initial identification: School Social Worker, counselor, Student Learning Advocate, and/or administration contacts the Student Services Coordinator about student(s) who are deemed homeless as defined above.
