New as of the 2005-06 school year, is the addition of the AP Art History Class, a 2 quarter 1.5 credit honors class, that gives students the opportunity to receive college credit based on how well they do on the AP Art History Exam that is given near the end of the school year. The class covers the development of both European and non-European cultures from Paleolithic times through to the present. In addition to the work that we cover in the text (Gardner's Art Through The Ages, 12th edition), the class examines artwork viewed on PowerPoints that extends over 32,000 years of development, visits both the Mpls. Institute of Art and the Walker Art Center, is engaged in making a variety of art projects that illustrate the work and times being studied. Students work on individual and group projects in class and keep on online art history journal chronicaling the material being studied. Artwork from the class may be viewed by clicking here. |
