HERE ARE A FEW “INSIDER TIPS” TO MAKE YOUR CHILD’S FIRST DAY OF MIDDLE SCHOOL JUST A LITTLE BIT BETTER:
Attend OPEN HOUSE and have your child “walk through” his/her schedule. We design our Open House to provide you with plenty of time to walk around and get familiar with the school. Feel free to walk around, look in classrooms, and explore the school!
Write the AM and PM Bus information in a folder. By doing so you’ll help your child avoid some anxious moments at the end of the school day!
Help your child memorize their PIN number (for lunch account) and locker combination. Knowing these will prepare your child more easily overcome the two things many kids fear most!
Use a combination lock to practice opening a locker. Students who are comfortable opening a combination lock have fewer problems opening their locker on the first day.
Set aside time to talk in the evening after the first day is over. Your child will bring home forms that need to be completed and returned to school the next day. In addition, middle school children still like sharing their experiences with parents. Ask lots of questions about their day and be a good listener.
Reassure your child and enjoy the moment! Each year, millions of children start middle school and within a few short months, they find themselves on the road to their future! Relax, enjoy the moment! Remember: we have a lot of experience helping kids get through the “jitters” of the first day. We’re here to help! |
