Hello! My name is Mrs. Dau! I love to teach and I am very glad to be at McKinley Elementary! This will be my 12th year of teaching. The classroom is my favorite place to be and I can't think of a better way to spend my days. I have 3 kids. My oldest is Christian who is in 3rd grade this year. I have a daughter, Ava, who is in 1st grade as well as a 3 year old daughter named Kiera. My husband and I live with our kids in Champlin. I am excited to be able to work part time teaching the B section of kindergarten and be home with my kids on the A days. This is my 8th year at Andover Elementary. The last 3 years I taught at McKinley Elementary in Ham Lake. I also taught for 1 year in Eden Prairie.
I am excited to learn about
my new kinders and their families.
My teaching philosophy is:
Catch the Energy. Release the Potential.
Don't you just love that? I can't think of anything that sums up my job better than those 2 phrases. Kindergartners are so full of energy and enthusiasm. My hope every day is that I can catch that energy and release the potential learner inside. The possibilities keep me up at night! I am excited to share more of these ideas as the year goes on.
We are going to have a great year teaching and learning together. Mrs. Dau

I love to teach and am very excited for the school year to begin! I am one of the lucky people that had their dream job. By teaching kindergarten and first grade I hope to give as many kids as possible a solid foundation for a lifetime of loving to learn. By switching back and forth between the 2 grades I have valuable insight. I have seen where students are when they come into school, where they need to be at the end of kindergarten, and what they need to succeed in first grade! You wil not believe how much they grow and learn in just one year!

In addition to teaching I graduated in January 2005 with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education Reading & Literacy. Hooray! I really do feel like I can master teaching all kids to read and more importantly to comprehend what they are reading. Parents play a big role in this job. We will be working together to inspire future readers!
