Each year students at Jefferson participate in four different fitness tests. The test scores are recorded onto a fitness card which stays with the student through 5th grade. The four different fitness tests are: 1. 1/2 Mile Run (1st and 2nd) or Mile Run (3rd, 4th, and 5th) To measure heart/lung endurance by fastest time to cover 1/2 mile or mile distance. 2. Pull-ups To measure upper body strength/endurance by maximum number of pull-ups completed. 3. Sit and Reach To measure flexibility of lower back and hamstrings. 4. Curl-ups To measure abdominal strength/endurance by maximum number of curl-ups performed in one minute. |
