Answers
1)  Q How are students selected to participate in Talent Development?
A
There are three tiers in talent development. Each tier has different selection criteria. Tier I talent development activities are open to all students. Classes are held before or after school and on weekends. Tier II students are selected by teachers based upon classroom performance and interests. Tier III students are selected by a talent development committee using multiple measures. These include DRA scores, MCA test scores, MAP test scores, teacher and parent recommendation, and student self-selection.
2)  Q Will participation affect my child's grades on his or her report card?
A
Talent Development students receive a separate progress report twice a year. This progress report is not connected to his or her regular classroom performance. A copy of this progress report will be placed in the student's cumulative folder. Please see the "TD Progress Report" link on the left margin of the homepage.
3)  Q Will there be homework in the Tier III classes?
A
Homework policies vary by teacher. Most often, time is given in class to complete work. Anything left unfinished at the end of the session would be considered homework and expected to be completed for the next session.
