History
Peter Enich Kindergarten Center in Anoka and Park View Early Childhood Center in Champlin were originally designed to reduce the enrollment crunch at overcrowded elementary schools during years when the district was growing rapidly.

Peter Enich Kindergarten Center was built in 1989 and catered exclusively to kindergarteners. It served approximately 435 kindergarteners from Champlin, Crooked Lake, Wilson and Washington elementary schools.

The center was named after longtime district educator Peter Enich, Washington Elementary School principal, who was killed in a car accident in 1984 while on a Rotary Club trip in South Africa.

The center was located within the Anoka-Hennepin Learning Center/Distribution Complex (LCDC) in Anoka, which was purchased in 1984. The LCDC houses the district's Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program, Teen Parent Program, Nursery, Staff Development Center and Distribution Complex.

Moving Forward
Peter Enich and Park View students will return to their neighborhood schools and attend kindergarten there. The Peter Enich center will likely be used for other district purposes, but nothing has been determined yet. The center's neighboring programs (ECSE, Early Childhood Family Education and School Readiness) will move to the former Riverview Specialty School facility in fall 2010.
