Where/When is this beautiful thing?

What is anime?
Anime is typically Japanese animation (some anime is Korean or co-produced between Korea and Japan). Anime derives from the Japanese way of saying any animation, which derives from French. Anime is simply a form of art, covering all genres and ratings.

What do you do in Anime Club

We sit and watch
TV.  We also eat and surf the internet and occationally learn things. So if you come here your college resume will look like you participated in a club-but all you did was watch TV. It's quite smexy.

Do you have any rules?

Yes.
Shut up.
Sit down.
Be happy.
Be nice.
Don't surf the internet on non-anime sites.
Either wear working headphones or turn the sound off completely when on the computer.
Turn your cell phones off-they mess with the wireless speakers.
Think. If you think it might bother people, or get you in trouble-Don't. Do.
It. If we don't want it going on-we have the right to stop it and you don't have the right to disobey us.
All school rules still apply-sorry. More rules for you.

What's your policy on cards this year?

No cards-our offer is still valid to help anyone start their own club, but the card-playing is far too noisy for our club.

Can I suggest an anime?

Certainly. That doesn't mean we'll watch it-but we'll see if we can get a hold of it, have time and if it's school appropriate. If it doesn't get played this year, there's always next year. We have both a DVD player and a VCR, and we can play things off a computer if a laptop is provided. We will not watch fan subbed now-licensed anime; however, we will watch fan subs of unlicensed anime and/or bootleg discs.

Subbed or Dubbed?

We show both. Sometimes there's no option. Dubs are preferred because people can't always see the subtitles, but a select few of us love subs and make people watch them. Things like the fact Yuki
Sohma shouldn't sound like he's forty will influence us to switch to subs...

Do you have to draw to be in Anime Club?
NO!

What won't you watch?

We won't watch things that have been on TV a lot, at the staff's discretion. We won't watch DBZ, Sailor Moon,
Pokemon , Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh! or anything else that scares most people into psychotic fits. We also won't watch anything that would be rated "R", whether it's actually rated or not.

Most animes cuss, some animes are violent, some animes are sad; we refuse to watch things based on excess, not on the fact it's included (with exceptions, of course.). If your not sure, lend us a DVD and we'll tell you if it's OK or not. If for some reason you don't think you can handle something-either because of immaturity or personal beliefs-this is an after school club and you have the right to leave.

[Insert Question about Anime Detour]
:
Most information is on the Letter to Parents page at the bottom or at the Anime Detour website. Please come to Dom with questions not answered in club. There will be a "Con Overview" the day before the con at club in the form of a long speech for those to lazy to read the website. You can also ask questions then-but that is just the day before...

So...where and when is this and why did you put this on the bottom of the page?

Where: B130 or North Lecture Hall. When: Most Thursdays, some Tuesdays-see the schedule on this site from
2:40-4:45 /5:00 Why?!?! Because this is where Dai-chan had it and I don't feel like moving it. ^.^;;
